About our executive chef, Matt Kirwan

A Richmond native with deep roots in the city’s culinary scene, Matt Kirwan, the Executive Chef of Daisy’s at Tredegar began his journey in the kitchen at just sixteen years old at the Country Club of Virginia. His early career included time at West End favorite Eurasia and as the opening Sous Chef at The Rogue Gentlemen. In 2014, he moved to New York City, where he honed his craft at The Little Prince in SoHo and Virginia’s on the Lower East Side under Chef Matt Conroy.

He returned to Richmond in 2017 to help launch The Shaved Duck as Executive Chef and went on to lead kitchens at The Roosevelt and Grisette. By 2022, after years of experience and leadership in acclaimed restaurants, he began focusing on private dining, catering, and special events.

Now, with the launch of Daisy’s at Tredegar, he brings that same spirit to a new chapter—celebrating food, community, and the joy of hospitality.

When not in the kitchen, he can be found exploring Church Hill by foot or bike, watching sports (Go Yankees, Jets, Knicks, and Rangers!), or enjoying live music around the city.
